Hey there!

I’m Sam, founder of Wrangell Company. You’ll often find me with a dog or three in tow. My business originated from a desire to blend my passions into a unified space. My career has primarily focused on geosciences, but what most don’t know is that I also have a background in art. I’ve channeled my creative energy into various freelance opportunities outside of my science profession (and often within it as well). This entrepreneurial endeavor is my approach at merging science and design expertise.

Growing up in Pennsylvania, I found a lot of solitude and comfort in school art rooms where I developed my linework style of illustration. My love for snowboarding initially motivated me to go to college and study art with hopes of working as a graphic designer in the industry. Next thing I knew, I was at rocks and that quickly evolved into moving to Arizona to research structural geology. My attachment to creativity never faded, I just learned how to channel it into mapmaking and science marketing. In recent years, I’ve honed my surveying and cartographic skills in Alaska and British Columbia. Now, I’ve found myself at a lovely intersection where I can offer my diverse skills for hire all in one place.
